Last Thursday, one of the lawyers made a reservation at Beng Hiang Restaurant
for lunch. The renowned restaurant, which serves authentic Hokkien cuisine, is just a few streets away from my office. As it was my first time there, I was very eager to savour the delicious foods, which the lawyers occasionally raved about!
1. Fish Maw Thick Soup with Crab Meat
This is definitely a must-order!
The soup comes with a thick base & the quantity of the fish maw is very generous!
My favourite dish of all!
2. Spiced Sausage also known as 五香 ("Ngoh Hiang")
Two different types in just one dish but the same fillings.
Crispy, and the fillings were quite a lot.
3. Crispy Roast Chicken
The crackers tasted better than the chicken.
The roast chicken was just so-so.
Quite dry though.
4. Steam Fish in "Teochew Style"
This was the worst dish of all!
All of us agreed that there was a 'fishy' stench!
The soup base was good though.
5. Shrimps in Yam Ring
The yam was yummy, just that the shrimps were too little.
6. Spinach with Mushrooms
Overloaded with delicious mushrooms!
A little bit more spinach would have been perfect!
7. Oysters Omelette
The oysters were big, but the eggs were too crispy!
8. Fresh Fruit Platter
I had more of the papaya as the watermelon & honeydew tasted very bland.
Though a little pricey, I would definitely go back there again!
