Decided to drop by the highly-raved
Grin Affair on one of the weekdays, during lunch time. Despite the hassle of travelling under the scorching sun, I certainly have no regrets!
It is located on the ground floor of an HDB flat, right at the corner.
Different yummy flavours for you to choose from!
The self-drawn menu which tells you the ingredients each flavour consists of!
Out of the 13 different types of flavours, I bought 9!
Even though my boyfriend doesn't fancy sweet stuff, he was full of praise at first try! The colleagues and I liked it very much too. They even offer delivery service at a flat rate of $9 to any location in Singapore! Great, right? Oh, please don't throw away the jars! You can collect them and redeem tickets in exchange for apple brew, jar of dried fruit or jar of cake! I'll be dropping by to redeem my tickets soon~

Finally had the time to have dinner with my baby brother last Saturday. It was actually meant to be his birthday treat, from boyfriend and I. Hence, we brought him to his favouring dining place - 818 Paradise Seafood House!
Spicy Hot & Sour Soup (酸辣汤)
Ratings: 4.5/5
One of boyfriend's must-order dish!
Prawn Paste Chicken also known as "Har Cheong Gai" (虾酱鸡)
Ratings: 4/5
Another of boyfriend's must-order dish!
Stir Fried Vegetables with Silver Fish
Ratings: 2.5/5
One of the recommended dishes by the staff, but boyfriend & I didn't like it.
Black Pepper Deer Meat
Ratings: 4.5/5
Baby brother's favourite dish of all!
Salted Egg Crab
Ratings 2/5
Quite disappointing as the crab was not fresh.
The gravy was so little, I prefer Kimdo's!
The restaurant is famous for its Fish Head Steamboat. It is usually full-house on weekends and during Chinese New Year period. It is pretty inconvenient to get there unless you drive or take a cab. Otherwise, you will have to take a feeder bus from Boon Lay Interchange.

Last Thursday, one of the lawyers made a reservation at
Beng Hiang Restaurant for lunch. The renowned restaurant, which serves authentic Hokkien cuisine, is just a few streets away from my office. As it was my first time there, I was very eager to savour the delicious foods, which the lawyers occasionally raved about!
1. Fish Maw Thick Soup with Crab Meat
Ratings: 5/5
This is definitely a must-order!
The soup comes with a thick base & the quantity of the fish maw is very generous!
My favourite dish of all!
2. Spiced Sausage also known as 五香 ("Ngoh Hiang")
Ratings: 4/5
Two different types in just one dish but the same fillings.
Crispy, and the fillings were quite a lot.
3. Crispy Roast Chicken
Ratings: 3/5
The crackers tasted better than the chicken.
The roast chicken was just so-so.
Quite dry though.
4. Steam Fish in "Teochew Style"
Ratings: 1/5
This was the worst dish of all!
All of us agreed that there was a 'fishy' stench!
The soup base was good though.
5. Shrimps in Yam Ring
Ratings: 3/5
The yam was yummy, just that the shrimps were too little.
6. Spinach with Mushrooms
Ratings: 4.5/5
Overloaded with delicious mushrooms!
A little bit more spinach would have been perfect!
7. Oysters Omelette
Ratings: 3/5
The oysters were big, but the eggs were too crispy!
8. Fresh Fruit Platter
Rating: 2/5
I had more of the papaya as the watermelon & honeydew tasted very bland.
Though a little pricey, I would definitely go back there again!
